In this week’s episode, Marco Pimentel sat down with Emma Gilchrist, Co-Founder, and Editor-in-Chief of The Narwhal, a pioneer in non-profit environmental journalism. The Narwhal was created in 2018 in Victoria, BC and now has bureaus in Ontario and a team of investigative journalists reporting on pressing environmental issues across Canada. Emma grew up in a small town in Northwestern Alberta and saw firsthand the important role resource developments played in Canadian communities. In 2002, she enrolled in the journalism program at Mount Royal University and, upon graduation, worked as a reporter and editor in the U.K. and Canada and later in the non-profit sector. The Narwhal is currently ad-free and supported by over 4,200 subscribers.
